To all Wine Exchangers,
Who's Musso? Good question. We didn't know either and we've been selling Barbaresco and visiting the area off and on for over two decades! The winery isn't big, but boy are they working with the right stuff.

The family produces several hundred cases each of Barbaresco from two terrific 'Crus', Rio Sordo and Pora. Yes, these vineyard names will be familiar to 'Nebb-heads' everywhere as fellow Barbaresco star Produttori del Barbaresco uses these same sites for two of their hallowed Riservas.
But what Musso pulled in the spectacular 2016 vintage may very well be out of reach for those hallowed producers.

A double 97-point score for a Barbaresco that sells for $40?

Believe it.

Now with one 97-point score you might say “Oh, well, that’s so-and-so and they always score high.”

Nope, not this time.  This round we have two completely independent sources tasting this one blind and coming up with the same conclusion on the Musso Barbaresco Pora 2016

Wow.

Decanter Magazine raves, “Complex and invigorating raspberry, mint and liquorice nose. Fresh, silky attack with polished tannins, concentration and great depth of fruit. Structured, spicy, complex and long, this is outstanding and will age well. 97 points.”

And from Wine Enthusiast, “This has a lovely, alluring nose that evokes rose, iris, woodland berry, new leather and cake spice along with a whiff of camphor. It's focused and delicious, with juicy Marasca cherry, star anise, clove and mocha flavors framed in taut, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. 97 points.

And oh, by the way, the Musso Barbaresco Rio Sordo 2016 also finished in the money with a whopping 95-point score, incredible!

Enthusiast writes, “Underbrush, leather, floral and tobacco aromas are front and center on this radiant red, as well as a hint of menthol. The enveloping palate offers ripe plum, vanilla, mocha and baking spice alongside velvety, fine-grained tannins. 95 points.”

Crazy but one of the hottest new names in Barbaresco is also selling for some of the area’s lowest prices…

BTW, these wines are a couple of fine harbingers for what we’ll be seeing from the PERFECT 2016 vintage in Piedmont.  The best vintage since 2010 and potentially even…dare I say…BETTER.

Start collecting them…now.
