To all Best Winers,

The 2012 Bordeaux Futures campaign is in full swing with some of the top-notch wines being released.  Prices have come down considerably and there are some interesting deals to be had.

First, since 2012 is a“Right Bank” vintage, let’s start with Pomerol, which was considered the top appellation.  From the Garcin stable, we have Clos l’Eglise (WS 92-95 WA 91-94).  A wine we tasted here at our office when Helene came to visit us last month. The wine is brilliant and the price is the lowest in years!  Also another top name in the region is Clinet (WA 92-94+).  At under $70, this is another great value on a superb wine.

Traveling down the road, Matthieu Cuvelier’s Clos Fourtet (WA 93-95) is out as well as the 250 case Croix de Labrie (WA 93-95).  One of the killer values in any vintage is the Decoster’s Fleur Cardinale (WA 92-95).  At under $35, it’s a great buy as is Nicolas Thienpont’s Pavie Macquin (WS 93-96).

In Pessac Leognan, we have the wines from Domaine de Chevalier (WA 92-95), Branon (WA 92-94) and Smith Haut Lafitte (WA 92-94) to name a few.  DDC is the play as Olivier Bernard is making some of the best wines in the region.

In the Medoc we have a slew of name brands starting with Malescot St Exupery (WS 93-96).  We haven’t seen this estate under $50 in a long time.  Also released this week were Branaire Ducru (WS 90-93), Leoville Barton (WS 90-93), Pichon Lalande (WA 91-93), Pichon Baron (WS 91-94), Calon Segur (WA 90-92) and finally Montrose (WA 92-94) all among the standouts on the Left Bank.

So another busy week with a few more big-name players to go…  Stay tuned.
