Definitely on the darker end of the color spectrum for roses among this year’s batch, this perennial value workhorse is once again fresh, vibarant and packed with expressive berry fruit. It may not be as complex as a Bandol or as cerebral as some of the Loire versions, but at less than half the price of most of them it lays waste to most of the ‘pretender’ competition at this price range out there in the marketplace. It seems like everyone has decided to try and get into the rose game this year and we’d venture to say we have seen 3-4 times the number of roses. You’d think that would make the competition tougher yet Guiot still shines compared to most of them, price not withstanding. Grenache and Syrah with a little Cinsault, a traditional Costieres de Nimes makeup, this is clean bright and imminently quaffable. Super value.
