We were pleasantly surprised to find a good chunk of this still floating around even after it caught some amazing press from Galloni in the Wine Advocate. Hmmm..great vintage, great winemaker and the specter of a 2005 version of the same wine that will take a pretty hefty price increase. All that adds up to us making a big play on one of the best deals on a Barbera you will ever see. Got the whole fruit bowl here with plum, raspberry and cherry flavors that are lightly bolstered by minimal oak treatment and the whole deal is bottled unfiltered. The tangy, tucked-in acids keep everything fresh and the cocoa-inflected hints on the finish round out the package on this very quaffable wine that is a textbook in and of itself for the genre.
