Drink now through 2035. unassuming guy in the wine industry than Bert Selbach, we doubt you could. Unfortunately, for much of the last decade, the Weins Prum wines haven’t given us many opportunities to cheer for Bert. When you are usually tasted alongside guys like Monchhof, Fritz Haag, Zilliken, and Gunderloch, it isn’t easy to get noticed. This year, however, we get to congratulate Bert on having one of the best wines in a very impressive room. His Graacher Domprobst Spatlese was one of our favorites early on and this Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese is equally impressive (and equally scored in Wine Spectator recently at a 94). Apple, pear, slate, even some red berries, plush and delineated on top, sizzling underneath a showy Riesling.
