ANDRE QUENARD 2007 LES TERRASSES SAVOIE CHIGNIN BERGERON
$21.99
Quantity:
Super Savoie? A theoretical hybrid of a top white Hermitage and a refreshing mountain spring. How else do you describe this totally unique wine from Savoie, Switzerland adjacent? The Savoie region has its own unique clone of Roussanne which it has grown for as long as anybody around those parts remembers. In the cool, mountainous zone of Chignin, this particular strain of Roussanne keeps the density of ripe stone fruit flavors one associates with the Rhone but with a bit more lift, freshness, and florality to it. We would usually balk at a $20 Savoie (most are considered every day easy drinkers in the $10-14 area) but this ain’t your typical Savoie wine. It is, however, dangerously easy to drink, rich, complex, engaging, soulful, a real star in our summertime line-up.
