From Wine Advocate:" The 2007 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Cairanne is a powerhouse. Earthy with a hint of weedy tobacco interwoven with creme de cassis and kirsch, lots of body, and remarkable freshness as well as exuberance, this is a full-bodied red with considerable power (14.5% alcohol), layers, and richness. It will be even better in 1-2 years, and should keep for a decade or more. "
From the Stock Report: It is certainly a fine time for Rhones, and this is just another delicious example of the engaging 2007 vintage. Such a vintage plays right into the hands of someone as consistent as Alary, who manages to deliver a pretty juicy style most of the time anyway. All of the classic notes of garrigue, earth and spice are here but play a more restrained role in the presentation because the fruit’s so revved up. Lots of kirsch/cherry goodness going on, with high toned elements that are announced in the nose coming through nicely on the palate. Alary has been a regular on our shelves for quite a while and we dare say this is the best we can recall from his portfolio that we have tasted. It seems that we are going to be saying that a lot over the coming weeks as more of these little 2007s roll out. Grenache (about 70%), Syrah and Carignane from hillside plantings in the mix here. Delicious.
