POINT CONCEPCION 2007 CHARDONNAY CAPONERA VINEYARD

  

Peter Cargasacchi has developed quite a reputation as a grape grower over the past decade.  Wineries queue up year after year to source Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes from his estate vineyard.  But he does make a few bottles of his own stuff, and this delightful Chardonnay from the Caponera vineyard really highlights the true varietal character of Chardonnay.  Yes, that's right, Chardonnay does have varietal character, yet all too often its masked by the heavy use of oak.  Not a problem here, Peter makes this one bright, clean, fresh and doesn't overcharge.  We like that.  It's one of our go-to's this summer...as long as it lasts.
