PRIMOSIC 2006 PINOT GRIGIO MURNO
$9.99

Some of you may recall our brief article last month on Primosic’s excellent Tocai Friulano, a wine we were able to offer at a radically reduced price thanks to nothing more than a change of importers (yeah that kind of stuff does happen) resulting in much better wholesale pricing. Well, that tasty white was the ‘lesser’ of the two deals. Here’s the real steal, a single vineyard Pinot Grigio from one of Collio’s top sources, in a great vintage, at a price more reminiscent of some by-the-glass “plonk” Pinot Grigio served at the local gingham tablecloth “trattoria”. Primosic’s Murno has all the intensity and flavor we associate with the Slovenia-adjacent part of Collio. It’s a richer, rounder style of Pinot Grigio, heavy on the minerality, licorice, apricot and orange peel flavors, with surprising snap to the finish considering the wine’s mid-palate weight. A heartier foil to salumi plates and richer fish dishes you will not find, especially at this kind of price. Zesty and very engaging. Super value
