Why so many tasty wines from the Veneto all of a sudden? It certainly seems as if producers farming the hillsides over in Amarone country all decided to get serious at the same time. Here’s another delightful blend. This time it’s Cabernet and Corvina, grown on rocky hillsides and harvested late to maximize intensity and richness. This is not made using the Ripasso style, but it certainly tastes like it is. It shows all the concentration, density and fruit one expects from those value Amarone taste-alikes but with a fresher black fruit component and sweet herbaceousness that is very pleasing to the palate.
