CONCHA Y TORO 2005 TERRUNYO CABERNET

  

Concha y Toro has a  lot of balls in the air these days and, while we can say we have pioneered some of them (like Don Melchor), we have to admit we hadn’t seen these until the Wine Advocate came out last year with some very high marks for the previous Caberent and particularly the Carmenere.  We tasted both early on this time and were particularly struck with the pure blackcurrant and cassis fruit, spice, graphite and smoke notes in this Cabernet.  Weighty but more expressive and light on its feet, with expressive spicy fruit and a gorgeous nose.  Think more Jr. Ducru Beaucaillou than California Cab on this one.  Delicioso.
