With all the great wine we see nowadays, it’s much tougher to get us excited about an individual bottling than it used to be. But when we do have those moments, they’re even more special. Tikal’s 2007 Patriota, this Argentinean cult winery’s old vine blend of their native Bonarda and Malbec, really blew us away. We’ve always been fans, having sold the wine since its inaugural 2003 vintage. But the 2007 was something else again, just a terrific, giving, plush, balanced bottle of red wine that had everything in its right place. And they dropped the price! Previous year’s offerings sold for $20 or more, but now we get to proffer this gem to you at a measly $16 a bottle, making it one of the best value reds we’ve tasted in the last 12 months! Needless to say, a real no-brainer.
