This has been a star for Behrens and Hitchcock since they first offered it, and the 1998 appears to be one of the vintage's top efforts. Opaque black/purple-colored, with a knock-out bouquet of creme de cassis, blackberry liqueur, and smoky new oak, this intense, full-bodied, surprisingly powerful offering, from a vineyard near the Araujo's Eisele parcel, is long and atypically rich and concentrated. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2015. Bravo!"
