The biggest surprise from our somewhat inconsistent experiences with the trade German tastings this year was the one we didn’t know we needed. This amazing late harvest Gewurz from Pfalz Pinot Noir specialist Becker made us stop dead in our tracks.  Think killer Vendange Tardive from a top Alsatian producer but lighter on its feet and you get the picture, rose petals, lychee, spice, all with a deftly balanced, distinctly Germanic slant.
