DELHOMMEAU 2006 MUSCADET CUVEE HARMONIE

You don’t need to have a lot of Muscadets, but the ones we have need to be really good. We were sad to see the last vintage of Domaine Pauvert sell out and were looking for someone small, passionate, and talented who could bring a Muscadet that was both driving and crisp, but that also had enough fruit and richness to achieve the total package. We found him, and also a new Loire-centric importer who seems to have a stable of this type of vigneron profile. Done in the ‘sur lie’ style, this comes from a specific old vine plot in gabbro soils. It is how Muscadet is supposed to be, with plenty of verve and a certain briney element to the nose, but also with some palate volume. Good enough you don’t even need the traditional oysters!
