This is one of the names that is quickly establishing itself as one of the consistent players in New Zealand Pinot Noir. It has been a 90 or more in Spectator three of the last four years and made the Top 100 two of the last three. That being said this as-yet- unrated 2006 strikes us as the best one we’ve had so far with seemingly more flesh and fruit front to back, a rounder palate and lovely, almost exotic dark cherry fruit. We are partial to Central Otago anyway and this one seems to hit all of the notes. This is not your typical lean Kiwi Pinot...it can run with the big boys and should be evaluated vis -a-vis comparable options from California, Oregon or Burgundy.
