VILLA CAFAGGIO 2004 CHIANTI CLASSICO RISERVA

Now this is what Riserva-level Chianti is supposed to be, darnit! Take your best fruit, from your finest vineyards and give it a bit of "bling" with some French oak and microbullage. Which is exactly what Cafaggio has done. This is powerful stuff from their best south-facing vineyards. Rich, tannic, built to age, this Riserva from a notoriously ripe vintage can also be had now provided you have the proper foil of a big steak or perhaps a plate of rabbit in front of you. But we feel its best years are still ahead of it. For those who keep track of these sorts of things this was also a three glass selection from Gambero Rosso.
