A certain buzz that worked its way around the southern California Aussie wine-loving community made quick work of the 2002 model of this wine last year. Hopefully, this 2003 is under the radar enough that we have some to sell when this catalog hits.
From Colin and Bruce Beer’s 40 year old Barossa Shiraz vineyard, this wine has seen 80% French oak and is guided through the aging process by none other than Dan Standish (former Torbreck winemaker). The style is big, bold Barossa, and for the moment requires a bit of time in a decanter before serving. The yummy plum, blackberry and raspberry flavors are currently buried beneath a wall of warm, ripe tannins and chocolatey oak, but we see this one unwinding a bit over the next 6-12 months. Serious stuff.
